Family Events @ Castine Church
There are some exciting things happening at Castine Church! This year at Castine Church we are working on planning 4 different family focused events happening at different times this year. These events have a strategic purpose:
- To raise community awareness about Castine Church: that we are followers of Christ that love and care for them and their families.
- To invite those who are far from Christ to come and experience love and hospitality from a body of believers.
- To help everyone attending to know all the ways Castine can help their families grow.
One thing that we have found in our conversations with people in the community is that they know that we exist but don’t know much about us. Events like this will allow those in the community to begin to discover that we love and care for them and their families. We will do this by making events that are fun and exciting for families to attend, creating a warm and welcoming environment for them, and doing our best to keep their costs low.
One thing we heard from our church-wide survey from the fall is that many of you want more ways to invite others to be part of our ministry. For this reason, we want to have events that are low threat and fun for those who are far from Christ. That first and foremost the gospel will be shared by our actions and how we love them. Especially for those that have not ever been in a church, we want them to see that church is a loving place where they can find hope and care. If you heard my sermon on Sunday (February 20th, 2022) then you know that people need Christ more than ever in our world and to show them that church is a safe place is paramount.
Finally, we want to use these as opportunities for our community to learn about how Castine can help them grow. Ministries like Re|Engage are specifically designed to help people no matter where their marriage is, and it’s designed with non-believers in mind. We have Sunday Knights Men’s Group where they challenge each other to grow in their faith and events like the upcoming IF:Gathering with women from all over the world coming together to learn. All these events are great tools to help people grow but only if people know they exist.
Our first event is family bowling at McBo’s lanes in Versailles, OH on March 27th. It’s going to be a great time (as it was last year) of having fun together! Looking forward, in June we’re planning on a family ice cream event, in August we’re planning our Family Fun Night (like last year, but hopefully less rain), and in the late fall a Fall Fun Fest. Keep a look out for more details on these events as we plan them.
I want to challenge you to not only participate in these events, but to reach out and invite people to come join us and see what we’re all about!
