Baby Bottle Campaign
Why is Women’s Ministry interested in the Darke County Pregnancy Help Center?
This is one way we can live up to one of the values of Castine Church, “serving inside and out.” We are so blessed and there are so many ways to help the Pregnancy Center that the leadership team felt it was a great opportunity to get involved. The leadership team met with Jeannette Shuff, the director at the center and spoke to her in depth about ways we could assist her as a group and as individuals. Since then we participated in a prayer walk down Broadway to their new home. Jeannette was the featured speaker at a Dine and Discover and we held a Baby Shower for the center.
Are there ways individuals can volunteer?
Absolutely. Individuals can go through some extensive training and become mentors to work individually one on one with expectant mothers. And others can volunteer their time to be in the center greeting people and helping in the clothing room.
What about the baby bottle campaign?
The baby bottle campaign is something for the entire church to participate in. On Sunday April 2nd we will have baby bottles for people to pick up at both connection centers (not sure about this?) Every family is encouraged to take part by filling the bottles with all your change, or a nice big check. You can always fill more than one if you like! Then on Sunday April 30th we will collect the bottles and hand them over to Jeannette. She will inform us of the amount of our generosity.
The pregnancy help center receives no government funding, this allows them to keep God at the center of what they do. So this money could help with sexual risk avoidance programs to pregnancy tests to educational curriculum to diapers, to keeping the center home like so that moms want to sit in there instead of in their car or under a bridge. This is just a few of the things it might help fund. I am available after service if anyone would like more information.
