Care Crates for Teachers
As a matter of discipleship, we believe that serving is critically important to the life of a believer. We believe it needs to be taught to kids and adults alike. At Castine Church, this is one of our core values (Serving Inside and Out) that represents what a successful follower of Christ at Castine Church will look like. With this in mind, we want to introduce to you a service project that we plan to take on as a ministry: Care Crates for Teachers
What is it?
With this project we have 2 goals: to allow our congregation an easy way to serve our community and to bless a group of people unexpectedly. This year we are going to be packing plastic crates full of items that will be a blessing to the teachers of Tri-Village school district. We will be assembling 1 crate for every teacher. We’ll be doing this project together, as a church family, at the end of the worship service on February 19th.
How will this work?
The service will end just a little bit early, and we’ll all go to the life center. Each family will take a crate and walk around the life center filling it with items at different stations that will be prepared for you. After your crate has been stocked, the last station will be an opportunity for you to write a card to one of the teachers of Tri-Village. You won’t know specifically which teacher it goes to, but it’s a great opportunity to let them know they’re appreciated, and that because of our love for Christ, we wanted to care for them and that we’re praying for them. After you’ve placed your card in your crate, we’ll set all the crates in the middle of the room. Once all the crates are done, we’ll say a prayer over them together, and they’ll be delivered that week.
For families with children, this is a great opportunity to talk through what it means to serve others. The great news is that this is a great project for even our smallest ones to help with!
What do I need to do to prepare?
Most importantly, you can be praying right now for the teacher that will be receiving the crate. Pray that God will touch their heart, that it would be a blessing to them, and if they don’t know Him that this could be a catalyst to a conversation to bring them to a saving relationship with Jesus. All you have to do beyond that is to be here on February 19th ready to put items into a crate for teachers!
What if I want to contribute financially to this project?
If you want to donate to the project, you can do so by check and write it in the memo line, or you can give online at https://castine.church/teachers
